The experience with Laurence Dea Dionne was supported by the English Community Organization of Lanaudière (ECOL), made possible by funding from Canadian Heritage for students from Quebec’s English-speaking communities to participate in arts & culture experiences.
Three types of workshops were given to students of the school: storytelling (in which the artist drew out a story), comic strip (in which the students chose to create their own 4 panel comic), and zine (in which the students created an 8 page comic in a booklet folded from a piece of printer paper). The students orchestrated the stories through choices given by the artist, and then were free to either create their own stories or reproduce those drawn by the artist.
